What makes us…us?

“I will be out of the office for the next 8 to 10 weeks on medical leave.  Questions regarding any of the projects currently in place or those scheduled to begin in the next two months should be directed to Heidi Hayes of theAgency.”

What is so remarkable about that short paragraph? That was one of our clients, a very large international company, directing people within his organization to contact our president, Heidi Hayes, to answer questions, put out fires, and make recommendations in his absence!

To me this has always represented the essence of our promise to our clients and proof we were keeping the promise: Their business is our business. This total emersion in our clients business allows us the best opportunity to produce great advertising. It also creates a relationship of trust. Clients know their interests are being protected, and in this era of reduced staffing, that cannot be overvalued.

Whether in business or our personal lives, there are characteristics that help define us as individuals. The same holds true for businesses. Those companies that have a clear definition in our minds stand a better chance of being considered when a decision needs to be made. That is the essence of branding; the promise a company makes to its customers. Great brands generally have a simple, utterly unambiguous place in our minds.

We often revisit what we represent to our clients. What is our promise to them? Asking ourselves that question throughout the year guarantees we are making and keeping that promise. That is what makes us…us, as an agency and in a partnership with our clients.
